In a country store at the foot of a mountain known as Old Ugly, the neighbors are planning a wake for a resident who just died. They feel it's the decent thing to do, even though nobody liked Old Man Goree or his mean hound dog Rattler, also recently deceased. The neighbors aren't eager to spend the night up on top of Old Ugly, where the dead man's cabin perches like a stinkbug atop a toadstool, but after all, Abb Goree and Rattler are both dead, so there's nothing to be afraid of, is there?
